Hi guys,
I'm wanting to buy an SSD to finalise my computer build. The build has already become very expensive compared to the build I was originally going to get but seeing as I've spent over budget already it'd be a crime not to buy a Solid State to top it all off. Obvious things such as windows will be on it and maybe some games, so I was looking for a 120-128gb drive. 60gb would probably be enough but it's always nice to have that extra especially with games. Here is what I'm planning on buying for my system:

Intel 3570k
Asrock z77 pro3
Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB 1600mhz
Zalman z9 or z11 case
nvidia gt430 GPU(which is taken out of my old pc, this will be updated next payday)
Shitty old HDD that I will also take out of old pc until next pay day when I update that

Can you advise on the best SSD to accompany this system? I can't really afford to spend over £80 so any SSD's around that price mark would be great!

Thanks guys

A 128GB solid state drive is considered to be the "sweet spot". You can install the operating system, software applications, utilities, and your favorite games. Additional data files, photos, videos, films, and more games can be stored on a hard disk drive.

I normally recommend Samsung. Intel, Crucial, and Plextor are also worth considering.

The current trend is to not purchase ssd's equipped with SandForce controllers. SandForce has not introduced a new controller in over 2 years. Those older controllers were designed to work well with compressible data. They didn't perform as well with incompressible data such as photos, videos, and films.

I maintain the ssd database listed in the sticky at the very top of this forum section. Here is the link:

The database identifies the controller and memory used in each model. Scroll down to the brands and models you are interested in and follow the links to the technical reviews.

You mentioned a price of about £80. Is that British Pound Sterling or some other currency? I am not familiar with UK vendors; however, I took a quick look at amazon. The Crucial m4 SATA 3 6Gb/s 128GB ssd is available for £86. If you are patient and shop carefully you'll probably be able to find it for less.

Thanks for your reply, yeah that's in British Sterling, and that one seems decent :) I'll have another look tonight before I commit to buying anything though. If you can find anything better then give me a shout!
Thanks
