Which to choose???

I am changing my PC and my dad sed that he buys a LCD monitor. I got a price list but don't know which to choose. I almost don't play games. I wil be used most for internet, office, programing (software development), movie watching.
Here are the choises:
NEC MultiSync® LCD1700V:
17 inch (43.2 cm)
Resolution 1.280 x 1.024
Brightness 250 cd/m²
Contrast 400:1
Viewing angle 140° horizontal, 125° vertical (at contrast ratio 10:1)
ISO 13406-2 certification (what is this???)

or
Samsung SyncMaster171S.

So which to choose???

one of the better 17in that I saw while looking at lcd is
Samsung 770, the NEC 18xx is also very nice and price at 17in lcd level but is a 18in, it also seem to be well build and manfacture in Japan!
of course a few here love Compaq 7020 although I am not a big fan of them,(current owner of a Compaq 1800T) but I am sure it is nice!!

the thing I will look beside image quality is warrenty, construction(lcd like Envision have very cheap enclosure),
