I just bought the Soltek SL-75DRV2 today..

Im looking at the memory, and it shows all types of DDR..
1600
2100**think this is what I am gonna go with..
2400

Also trying to decide what I wanted as far as how MUCH..
should I go for the 512 or just float around with 256?
We mostly do light gaming in D2:LoD, and are going to get NWN and Pool of Radiance..

I do some graphics editing once in a while, and got the Radeon 8500 today as well, just cause it seems to kick mondo heinnie, and was a good price at $186.

Anyone have any particular recommendations as far as amounts and so on?
Im pretty sure Im going with Crucial..

Though I have been seeing OCZ, Micron for a bit more, and Kingmax, as well as Mushkin.

::massages eyes::

This is a major pain in the arse to get everything individually all at once.. I always just rebuilt as I went :>

To Be or Not to be... DAMN but that is confusing!

oh
in the 2100 Crucial?

256MB $53.09 DDR PC2100 • CL=2.5 •
Unbuffered • Non-parity • 2.5V • 32Meg x 64

256MB $56.69 DDR PC2100 • CL=2.5 •
Unbuffered • ECC • 2.5V • 32Meg x 72

What the hell is the difference between 64 and 72??

Parity is the difference here. The ECC designation is the determining feature.

As to memory choice, it is mostly up to you. PC2100 is the std now, but I understand that the DDR333 will be in the future but costs a lot more.

ok
1600 is 200FSB
2100 is 233FBS

Can't remember what the prices were on the DDR333...

don't think I saw any.
Though for now, I honestly think 256 will carry us

But what is the Difference between the 2700 and the DDR333?

ok This makes no sense.

This is from the 2700 memory
Low Density (16 Memory Chips) Modules
Hand Picked Hynix Chips
CAS 2.5 at 166MHz
Lifetime Warranty
184 pin DIMM
Unbuffered

Yet am I seeing that right as the FSB on that being 166?

That's slower than the other 1600 and 2100!

Yet on the DDR333 it says that the 256 meg chip is set at 167 MHz for the x4 x8 x16 chips.

;:shakes head::
screw it lol
Im gonna go with the unbuffered 256 2100 right now and get free shipping on it lol

::buys from Crucial::

They mean 333 Mhz but infact it's 166 Mhz with two cycles in each pulse so 2*166 = 333 Mhz FSB

PC1600 = 100/200 FSB
PC2100 = 133/266 FSB
PC2400 = 150/300 FSB
PC2700 = 166/333 FSB

ECC mem is designed to increase your data safity because it checks each byte with a parity bit, but this will slightly decrease performance.
And speaking about performance: CAS 2 is faster then CAS 2.5

My case has so many fans that it hovers above the ground :eek: .
