Hello,

Novice pc builder here, built my gaming pc 2 years ago and I would like to upgrade either the cpu or gpu I just dont kow which one first and would my motherboard handle the upgrade. Any advice will be much appreciated.

CPU = Intel Core i5-3570K Quad-Core Processor 3.4 GHz 4 Core LGA 1155 - BX80637I53570K
GPU = EVGA GeForce GTX660 2048MB GDDR5 192-Bit
MOBO = Gigabyte Intel Z77 Dual Thunderbolt ATX Motherboard (GA-Z77X-UP4-TH)
PSU = Corsair CX Series 600 Watt ATX/EPS Modular 80 PLUS Bronze ATX12V/EPS12V 552 Power Supply CX600M

Solution
You should definitely upgrade your gpu. There's practically no reason to upgrade your cpu at this point, especially since you can overclock it. Do you have a budget for your upgrade?

Your new gpu will slot into the same place your current gtx 660 is in and you will not need to buy a new power supply if you go with a gtx 970 or 980. You might want to if you go with a more powerful psu if you go with an r9 290 or 290x. Those are the only real logical gpu's to buy if you're looking for an upgrade. Anything less would be somewhat parallel to what you already have.

dont upgrade your cpu for another 2 years u wont gain a single fps by upgrading that. The only reason to upgrade a cpu is because your mobos chipset becomes outdated therefore limiting features such as usb 3.0 and pci 3.0. But u have that on your chipset has those so definatly dont upgrade cpu until intel announces there skylake cpus.

Upgrade the gpu to a gtx 970 by msi
