quick Q.
I am going to upgrade my PC and have until now decided on the i7 4770k cpu, asus z87 pro and vengeance low profile ram, sounds good to me, however, looking at reviews about PSUs and how the older ones might not be suitable bla bla got me a little worried! Just wanted an experts opinion to settle my nerves before shelling out large amounts of cash. main use is for gaming..ok i know an i5 is good enough but i fancied treating myself :)
current specs are:
win 7 64 pro
antec 1200 case
antec cp850 PSU
asus 990 evo mobo (cant remember which)
AMD 965 Phenom black ed CPU
8GB Dominator ram
msi 660ti power edition

any thoughts?
thanks!

I'm sure AHCI mode is available.

AHCI is important so all of the SSD's features can be utilized to maximize performance. Without it you will see much faster performance degradation. But again, I'm sure it is available on that board.

spent nearly 2 hours swapping the new bits into my machine only to find that it wont start, quick flash of light and then nothing. Did notice that i had damaged one of the sata connections on the mobo when plugging in my GPU, tried my sata cables in another connection..still nothing. Put my old bits back in again as its getting late and dont want to be without PC tonight, everything works fine....tbc

ugh...no fun.

Might be a good idea to start a new thread in the appropriate area if you are unable to resolve this quickly. That way it is likely to get more exposure.

Just post the link to the new thread here if you do this.
