Splendid
I wont even touch vista for at least a year after its officially released.
Remember we're talking about a microshit os here.
Anybody remember the problems with xp when it first came out?
No way I am going thru all that bs.
XP Pro is working just fine for me. Why should I upgrade/downgrade when I have no reason to?

Maybe after a year or so. Let them get the bugs worked out and the first service pack released. Then maybe Ill look into it.

32bits or better a all in one dvd where u can choose between all the versions.

i'm really tired of the huge bunch of versions wich are really same shit but limited to get home, pro and server versions. i really hate all the fuckin' oem, retail, multilicence and so on and so on. and when u buy a version and try to upgrade it tells u: "no no no! u have to buy the ultra ubber crap version so u can upgrade from win 98 to win vista. oh! and u want to be able to play games!? then u must buy the extension super gaming crap. and what shall it be? directx 10 or 9 cause u can't have both. and u want to use office!??! then u must buy the office crap version who accepts vista but not win xp or win 98 cause we don't want u to. and want to browse the web!?! of course but u must make a subscription to us but u can only use ie. if u want firefox then this is extra. and u want it to be acceptable stable, secure and compatible!??! then u must wait a meere 2-5 years.

i was very annoyed when i bought a win xp home oem version and wanted to upgrade a win 98 os. it told me it cannot do that because it wasn't retail. and it costed 80usd. then i pulled a 9in1windows edition, installed the winxp home edition just fine. after that i disabled the activation check.

thank u m$ for making our lives so much simple!!

Just so you know... OEM versions of Windows have NEVER been able to upgrade older versions of Windows... (even before XP) because guess what?

THAT'S NOT WHAT THEY'RE INTENDED FOR!

:p

OEM is supposed to be a clean install... not an upgrade. And besides, if you bought an OEM copy, why the hell would you want to upgrade anyway? Clean install is always the best policy... too many problems with upgrades.

Well someone should have told him... and told him earlier from the look of it.

;)

Anyway, even if he had purchased an upgrade edition... I would still recommend a clean install... upgrading isn't worth the hassles.
