When looking for what graphics card I should get for my gaming pc build, I originally went with the MSI GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4GB Video Card, but later, someone recommended that I get the MSI Radeon RX 480 4GB ARMOR OC Video Card. They are around the same price so I was just wondering, which one would be better for playing games with a good - great performance?

Solution
The 1050 Ti and the RX 480 are two different levels of videocard, with the 480 being vastly superior. If you could get them at the same price then the 480 is the better deal by far.

That said, the power supply question is critical and not to be underestimated. The 1050 Ti comes in models that do not require a power connector. This means just about anyone can use one. The 480 requires a power connector. This means it's possible you might have to buy a new power supply depending on what you have now, which spoils the whole point of it being a good deal.

One last consideration, depending on the games you play, you may not need the extra performance of the 480. There are games, like Witcher 3 and Rise of the Tomb Raider, that benefit from...
The 480 4gb is equivelant to a 1060 3gb so the 480 is better than a 1050 ti.

Now 2 things to note:
1) if doing photoshop, handbrake or other video editing/rendering, 3d programs the NVIIDA gpus are better because the software can use CUDA cores to offload some of the processing
2) A 1050ti will work with almost any PSU but a 480 will require a half decent gaming PSU.
A PSU is not a place to cheap out on as many bargin models have fried parts or even caused house fires.

This is somewhat inaccurate as the 480 uses OPENCL and is superior in some programs, it really depends on the program which is better, but to say only Nvidia allows you to offload general purpose processing is inaccurate.
