The GTX 275 is much better than the 4850 x2, however you might want to consider the 4890 if you want to overclock, but its pretty much equal to the 275

The 4890 would be a better usage at higher resolutions but, in smaller minimal resolutions, they are comparable.

As for 2x4850's, i think it would be better than both gpu's: GTX 275/4890.

Go with GTX 275. It easily beats the 4890 @ stock, and compares well when overclocked vs. 4890 OC. They're pretty even cards, unless you have a very large resolution.

At higher resolutions the gtx 275 beats out the ati 4890. Here is some links to look at to help you make your decision.

With the motherboard you have picked if you choose the nVidia card your limited to just that one card. If you go with ATi you have the option of adding a second, third or even a fourth card later. But also on your cpu choice for the board, didn't AMD cancel the 945 just recently? Though it was now going to be 955. You may even want to concider the 720 tri core, there getting great overclocks out of this and for $145 it frees up money for maybe a second card for Crossfire.

+1

I would choose an ATI GPU so you have the option of adding another GPU down the road if needed. The new 4890 is a great GPU and has very high overclocking capability.

+ on the 4890 but money wise, hope it fits your budget, good thing about this card is the connector usage and how good it is on higher resolutions. ( 1x8pin = 4890/ 2x6pin - 4870).

Bad thing is it could be a little more power hungry and heat, but, heat shouldn't be a problem, most of all ati cards run hotter than usual.

I agree the 4890 is a good choice for the reasons of Crossfire. But you keep saying it's better at higher resolutions when I provided four links that show it's behind the gtx 275 at higher resolutions. It's better at higher resolutions than what? The 4870 or gtx 260? Yes it's better at higher resolutions than those two cards, but it is not better at higher resolutions than the gtx 275. Or better yet, provide links showing it is....I provided four of them.
