Which video connection to use ?

Hello, I just got a new video card that's got DVI and HDMI ports, my monitor only has VGA and DVI ports. I got a cable that goes HDMI into the PC and comes out DVI, should I use that one ?
Or should I get a proper DVI cable ? Will there be any noticeable difference in image quality ?

I favor using the correct cables and connections. The reason is if there's a problem and you need to figure out what it is, if you are using adapters and improper cabling then you have just made troubleshooting more difficult.

Since your card has DVI out, and your monitor has DVI in, then use a DVI cable with DVI connectors on both ends.
