According to Acer you are permitted on upgrading to a newer OS because drivers are only compatible with Windows XP(http://www.acer.com/ac/el/GR/content/drivers). But if you want a newer OS try searching around the internet for maximum specifications on this laptop and upgrade it. As I see here http://acersupport.com/acerpanam/notebook/0000/Acer/Aspire3620/Aspire3620sp2.shtml this laptop can be upgraded up to 2GB of RAM which is a benefit for what you want to do. Keep in mind that upgrading to an incompatible OS version you may run into performance and incompatibility issues.
