Hello,
I currently have a Centurylink router/modem combo C1000A with radio compatibility at 802.11b/g/n. I am building my own pc an the Motherboard I chose did not come with wifi compatibility from what I can tell (ASUS Maximus Hero VII). Running ethernet cables across the house isn't ideal so I'd like to look into wireless pci cards.
Should I continue looking into pci wireless adapters as the best for of connectivity for wifi? If so, would it be wise to "future proof" by purchasing an ac wifi card and just let it be backwards compatible with my current router?
An example I found was the

I am not sure if I could purchase a router to work with Centurylink's router.
Any advice/guidance would be great. Thanks in advance.
