Which is a better option for performance? reliability? for Raid 1 + 0?

I have a choice of using the motherboard raid

or
PCI-Express x4 controller card

or
Windows 8 Server Software pool storage

Using x 4 black wd 2tb drives 7200rpm

If this is for home use then the motherboard option will work well for you. You don't really need to purchase a dedicated RAID controller.

Its a leftover from another build so I can use it or not use. Doesn't really matter. Would it be better to use the raid card? Having a SSD for the computer also should the SSD system drive be better suited from motherboard sata or from pci express raid card sata?
