Hi

Which would be faster for editing photos:

A core i5 with 6 megs of ram and an nVidia GeForce GT 520M

A core i7 with 6megs and the bog standard intel HD 3000 onboard graphics.

I would be editting large picture files and some basic video editting as well.

Depending on the program you use.... Probably the i7.

Programs such as Photoshop and most video editing software can take advantage of the Hyperthreading that the i7's have enabled. The GPU isn't really used as much for photo editing.

The HD3000 is actually a pretty solid platform for most people. Unless you are doing heavy HD video editing

For editing photos using Photoshop or equivalent, either would work fine!

But increase the ram...somehow I dont think 6 "MEGS" is enough...try 6gb or preferably 16 gb...
