while connecting to thew pc hdd is not connecting?

i am having lg 320 gb external hdd always i am getting a connecting problem.

are you connecting it through usb 3.0 or 2.0? does the external hdd have a power cord that is required or is it powered by your computer?

As you cave connection issues, you can try connecting the drive with another USB cable to a different port. The ports on the back of the PC tend to provide more power.
It will also be a good idea to run a HDD's brand specific testing program to check out the drive's health.
