Whining noise when under load?

My new GPU the Gigabyte G1 980 Ti makes whining noises when under load (so generally just in games). The more the load the louder the noises. Partly its just the fans but I dont think it all is.
What makes this extra weird though is that I can hear the noises through my headphones BUT ONLY when the mic jack is plugged in. So if I have the headphone jack but no mic jack the whining only comes from the pc and not the headphones and if I have the mic jack plugged in the whining comes from the pc and the headphones!!!!
Any one know anything about this? anything would be appreciated.
Thank you in advance

Noise coming from the PC could be coil whine from the graphics card, a slight manufacturing defect. Noise coming from headphones like that might be caused by the card pulling too much power from the PCIe slot, messing with the on-board audio. I'm not sure how, or even if, you can fix it though.

You could open up the case, open a game and try to see if you can find where the noise coming from the PC is coming from. If it is the graphics card, then you might be able to RMA it. If it is the graphics card, then replacing it with an RMA should fix the other issue too.
