Somehow it posted without what I typed

Samsung strike again. Got my old TV replaced with the exact same model and it was fine until it searched for WiFi and it lets out this really loud whine. Try again, same thing. Since then it's stopped, but I don't trust it now to work as it should. Every other WiFi related task didn't cause this issue.

What is it? Poor capacitors right? Had a router's PSU do the same and had to get rid of it, couldn't take it. So if it comes to it, are these good TVs?:

They'd be replacing:

the simplest way to get rid of the whine, coil whine or any other component doing noises is not using wifi

ethernet is better for tvs anyway

having said that, i would buy the lg

i have a old sony, picture is great and it is 120hz screen, but has so many quirks, i won't buy another sony tv unless it is really really cheap

lg is great, i have one here and i like alot the image and how it works

be sure that the one you buy is not a cheap 60hz model, you will regret it all the time, more than the whine, the sony seems to be 200hz, no idea the lg

So would I. LG are awesome, they were my go-to, but they're using RGBW (think even the LG model I showed is RGBW) for their UHD displays unless you spend considerably more. Samsung are using RGB without an overly steep price. I avoid Samsung as much as possible, because IMO they are just (you fill in the blank) even if they do look good on paper

TV is too far away to use ethernet. My previous 1080p TV was a 60 Hz display. Perfectly fine for years, now certain things no longer work on it anymore. Was an LG. Cheap, great picture (for its day) and problem free for years (except sometimes my PC couldn't tell where the edges were, but it was quickly sorted) and survived travelling up and down the country

no, samsung is quite decent, i have 3 here, two 1080p tvs and 1 hd tv, all of them work great as netflix machines and for tv, but the image is not as great as in lg or sony

a friend has a curved 1080p 40" tv, very good tv, i like the image quality but is a bit expensive

on samsung you do get what you pay for, on lg, you get a bit more

in sony, well, pay alot, they don't have cheap models anymore

Doesn't matter, it has the exact same problem as the previous set. So, back it goes. This is why I avoid Samsung as much as possible.

MERGED QUESTION
Question from unplanned bacon : "Whining when searching for WiFi"

You're right. It has the same issue as the previous TV it replaced. So, back it goes and here goes Samsung's last shot of me ever buying anything from them again
