Question Whistling PSU noises when idle

What might be the reason for this PSU noise. It happens when the system is idle and regardless if the fan is spinning or not. Model: Thermaltake Toughpower SFX 850W

What might be the reason for this PSU noise.

the Thermaltake Toughpower SFX series has been known to be fairly low quality.
it may be overwhelmed by the included components or it could just be faulty manufacturing.

if it's new i'd return it for a refund and get something better.
if past it's return date but still in warranty maybe try to RMA for a replacement and sell it cheap then use that money towards a nice reliable model.

Thanks, what alternative SFX 850+ watt PSUs would you suggest, with 12vhpwr out of the box? I saw a coolermaster one, but it doesn't have a 12vhpwr, there's a corsair one but it's sfx-l and way more expensive. Any others?

i don't usually deal with small form factor builds so don't know any extra-reliable options offhand.

i would just be looking to find one with a high rating that offers ~10 warranty.
check Newegg, Amazon, Micro Center, etc,...
