I am having difficulty getting video games to play on my computer. I can run the benchmark program Heaven through all scenes without any trouble (and hardly any GPU heatup), and everything else on the computer works great such as videos and web browsers. When it comes to video games, a white screen with horizontal grey lines appears after 10 or less minutes of playing, and is sometimes accompanied with a terrible or annoying sound that repeats. This happened when I played Skyrim.
I tried another game called Medieval Engineers, and I got slightly different results. I would still get grey/white screen after a few minutes but the in-game music usually kept going. The last few times I tried playing Medieval Engineers I got a slightly different result; the monitor flashed to a black screen, before coming back with the "no signal" message while my computer continued to run.
I have tried reinstalling the video card and its drivers but no results. I haven't tried reinstalling windows because I'm waiting for my reserved copy of windows 10 before trying that. I don't know what else to do because I don't fully understand the issue here. Is it my video card, PSU or something else that's causing this? Is there anything else I can try to fix this problem, or does it sound like I should start replacing parts?
