Hi!
I have a new build (1 month old) and today I finally got some time to start playing some games. 5 minutes after I started Hitman Absolution, my computer turned off. After I turned it back on, it said something about the computer having stopped because the motherboard (ASUS Z97-PRO (LGA 1150, Z97, ATX)) having detected some power surge issues from the PSU (Corsair AX860 (860W)). After I pressed a button, it continued into starting, but white lines appeared on the monitor, like this:
I searched around a bit and most similar problems seem to be because of the graphics card getting fried. I have an ASUS GTX 980 STRIX (GM204, 4GB). I moved around the graphics card to another slot, I reseated the RAM, used different power connectors from the PSU to the graphics card, the problem still persists. I tried using the built-in graphics card from the processor and that works fine, so it's not the display cable or the monitor.
Anyone have any tips or suggestions for what to try before I try to take it back to warranty? Also, could it be that the PSU is also defective because it sent that surge? How could I check that?
Thanks in advance,
Roland
