I have a white vertical line on my laptop and it is present the moment I boot. Going to BIOS did not get rid of it. Pressing along LCD bezel did not get rid of it. I did a screen mirror to my TV and there was no vertical line on the TV. I then re-installed Windows 10 and updated my drivers. Same white vertical line as soon as I boot. I then opened up the laptop and detached and re-attached the LCD cable connector to the motherboard and LCD screen. Still the same. Finally, I bought a replacement LCD cable and replaced the original one. Still the same. At this point, I am assuming that the vertical white line is a hardware issue with the LCD screen. Would you agree? Is there something else that I should try before getting the replacement screen? By the way, my system is an HP Envy 17t - k100.

I decided to buy a replacement screen. I found one on eBay that has the same part number (B173HW02), but a different H/W. Mine states 5B, but the one I am looking at states 2A. The size 17.3 is the same, the resolution 1920 x 1080 is the same, and the connector type 40-pin is the same. Does the H/W make a difference? Is the one I am looking to buy compatible or should I find one that has the same H/W?

H/W numbers can indicate LCDs may have different brackets alignment, different video connector and/or pins, special EDID, etc . I cannot help you more than that.
