And what does it look/sound/anythingelse like? Being the first time Ive overclocked a system, I have no idea how a computer handles the processor finally loosing it. So when my processor finally goes belly up from overclocking, what should I expect?

that the PC just wont POST when I try and start it one morning, or will it just *pop* and suddenly nothing? The reason I ask is because when it happens (which I expect with the mild overclock I am doing to not be for a few years), I just want to know.

I had a socket 754 Athlon 64 3400+ that I dorked up from overclocking. There was never really a dramatic moment with it though. It just stopped working with more than 512mb of ram. Even with a 1gb stick it would crap out but as soon as I backed it down to 512 it ran like a dream. Not really sure what i did to it but as soon as I replaced it with a 3700+ (using the same mobo) i could run the full gb I had.

never lost a cpu but have popped a North Bridge before. that was exciting.

it was a Asus P800 with a pentium 630 and 1 gb of Corsair DDR400 OC ram.

the board had a FSB limit of 250. i was running aroun 260-265 trying to get to 4ghz with my cpu. booted into windows, ran a benchy and boom. computer shut off. i inspected it immediatley and teh north bridge smeeled like burning electronics and it had black makrs on it when i removed the HSF. 8O

lol. dont push boards past their rated fsb, unless you are prepared.

i have lost a cpu motherboard and Gpu all to OCing

Gpu just started to give artifacts then nothing

Cpu and mobo died at the same time when one of the voltage regulators burnt out got some nice white smoke coming off it but i did push it a little far it was an old mobo

Actually, it's pretty hard to fry your chip with overclocking alone - it's usually done by upping the voltage, or forgetting to plug your fan in :)

anyone else check out the tooth brush over clocking video from that link?

oh man, when he showed how to file the end off, hilarious!
