Just wanted to show that M.2 SSD can be used on old systems if it has an OPT-ROM build in. OPT-ROM makes its possible for legacy bios to see an M.2 SSD as a IDE drive that can be installed windows on and boot from.

I have been testet an Samsung 950 PRO 256 GB on my old X58 system and just wanted to show that it works great and also as a boot drive.

So here are some screenshots from my own system.

How it looks in bios.

When every thing is up and running, it looks like this. If you wunder why speed is not much over 1700 MB/s. Its because of speed limitations with PCIe 2.

I also made a short video for those who wanted a quick tour in bios aswell to se boot and shutdown. its not the bedst video but it shows what its need to show.
