I finished it. After saying a couple of days ago how I was enjoying my
nonchalant pace through the game, I plowed through the post hell levels
pretty fast.

Doom 3 was great, period.

Though, even on Veteran difficulty, the final Cyberdaemon fight was a
little easy. I didn't even get killed once. I think it was just four
or five soul cube attacks and it was dead.

That's right isn't it, veteran difficulty equals g_skill 2? g_skill 3
is where your health drops. I was unaware; I was switching between
g_skill 1 and 2 thinking I was going between recruit and marine, when I
was actually going between marine and veteran. I was looking forward to
playing through the whole thing again on veteran only to find I'd
already done so. Only nightmare remains.

So where are the killer multiplayer mods now? jk, suppose that will take
some time. need ctf.

yup, I was also severely dissapointed in the cyberdemon fight. It was a
cakewalk, especially compared to fighting the cyberdemons in the cramped
levels of doom2.

most definately, It would be nice if threewave was working on a ctf mod for
the game.

I think the Soul Cube is really cool, but during that final fight I was
switching between it and my shotgun almost exclusively. In the previous
levels there had been call for nearly all the weapons and I gave the
BFG9000 a pretty good workout, I wished there was reason to use all the
other cool weapons at the end. Interestingly I tried to vary my
approach in a subsequent run through of the final battle and I was far
less successful using rockets, bfg balls etc than I was with just the
shotgun.

I think a game mod that wouldn't be too difficult would be to introduce
a couple of Hell Knights into the final battle. Having the extra
enemies be just imps and maggots, which are one shot on kill monsters,
is really what makes it too easy.

^ ^ i think that qualifies as a "killer multiplayer mod" =)

Just hope it gets finished and doesn't flop like some other mods i've seen
go down.
