Why 8350 overclock keeps freezing?

I have tried various methods to OC my 8350. (Cooling with a H100i, using Corsair CX600M PSU)
no matter what tutorial and method I follow
I end up with my pc freezing during a stress
test (it doesnt shutdown, the desktop is still
visible, but I cant move the mouse or press any
keys - total freeze state).

Below are my cpu bios settings, is there anything
i need to change or adjust?

the freeze used to take place after 5mins of running
prime95 or aida64 stability test. I dont like using
prime so recently i have been using aida64. I personally
think my voltages are fine because when I lower them
drastically i get a restart or a bsod or fail the test
which is normal with undervoltage OC. But I have even
tried overvalting it e.g 4.6 @1.5v and I still get those
freezes.

They did how ever occur after a long duration when I
enable cpu core parking and manually keyed in the NB, NB HT,
CPU/NB voltages, so i think thats where the problem is.

I may be wrong as I am nooby at this, so may you guys help
me fix this! I will give you a cookie.

Regards
Tim

Solution
First and foremost... what cpu cooler and PSU are you using?

I have the 8350 overclocked with multi 24 at 4.8ghz @ 1.48v on a sabertooth 990fx R2.0 with the following settings:
*bear in mind not all chips are equal and some can overclock further than others*

Ai Overclock Tuner - Manual
AMD Turbo CORE Technology - Disabled
DRAM 1600Mhz @ 1.5v (I've sinced upped my RAM to 1.65v, but always start with 1.5v)
CPU/NB Frequency - 2200Mhz
HT Link Speed - 2600Mhz
CPU & NB Voltage - Manual Mode
CPU/NB Manual Voltage - Set between 1.25v-1.3v (Increases stability for high overclocks)
CPU LLC - Ultra High (75%)
CPU/NB LLC - Auto
CPU Current Capability - 130%
CPU/NB Current Capability - 130%
DRAM Current Capability 130%
Cool'n'Quiet - Disabled
C1E...

4.6ghz and beyond can be problematic depending on the quality of the chip you have.

Some people can end up being lucky and getting a really good 8350 that can overclock loads, other 8350's struggle

When using the above settings it's a case of first finding a stable overclock around the 4.4ghz area.

Once you have a stable overclock, increase the multiplier by one point and then stress test.

As soon as you get a crash, increase CPU voltage by one point and repeat until stable again.

Recommended safe limits are:
CPU voltage: 1.55v NO HIGHER
CPU core temp: 62C
CPU socket temp 72C

Solution
I have the h100i and I have the CX600M from corsair as my PSU.

I will try to dial up my CPU/NB since its quite low and I will set the CPU/NB LLC to auto
also how do i know if i have too much voltage on the CPU/NB?

as long as you stay between 1.25-1.3 you'll be fine

I started with 1.2v on cpu/nb and worked up from there

also, I noticed you have turbo enabled

Turn that off, otherwise it will push things further than what you are aiming for under load

I don't even know why that was on auto, thanks for pointing it out.

I tried CPU/NB v of 1.26 and this time my PC froze within 5 mins.

For cool and quite do I disable by CPU or always disable?

always disable

have you still got your RAM at 1.565v? If so drop it to 1.5v

what overclock are you trying? still going for the 4.8?

I'd recommend starting low and then building up from there

Not all 8350s will overclock to the same limit

yeah I tried 4.7 at one point with the same voltage.
I did start from a low value and build up, but after 4.6
I started to freeze, and I then went back to 4.5 which
i had passed but now it freezes 🙁

How do I know if my 8350 doesnt clock well?

welcome to the silicon lottery

some clock fairly high, others don't

This might mean you have an 8350 that doesn't like much overclocking

lets stick with 4.5ghz for the moment and try it out

so with the settings I recommended, what voltages did you try @ 4.5ghz?

also, are you using a 4pin or 8pin PSU power connector?

Hey, I just wanted to say I may have fixed the issue - I reinstalled my windows OS - but I think the problem might have been related to corsair link.
I was able to run AIDA64 for 2hours on 4.5Ghz with 1.45v. Normally it would freeze between 5 to 30mins of running it.

So i just wanted to say thank you for the help you gave me. I honestly appreciate it.
