I don't really understand why everything I read hates on the 2080 super so hard...
Yes it didn't get the same performance boost as the 2070 did, but when you look at the line up as a while it seems to make sense to me. In Canada at least, the 2060 super sits around 600 bucks, the 2070 super around 800, and the 2080 super around 1000...give or take depending on the various models for each. When you look at the benchmarks there's a big gap between the 2060 and 2080, and the 2070 splits it pretty evenly. So it splits price and performance seemingly right down the middle...it all sort of lines up.
Yup it would have been nice if the 2080 super had even higher performance, but they cut the price to bring it more in line instead. And yes, AMD presents a better value on paper, but they are plagued with issues (I know this first hand, I just returned a 5700 XT).
Is there something I'm missing? Pretty sure I'm grabbing a 2080 super, really because there's just no good 2070s in stock to be had...but I don't feel like the money is wasted as much as people make it out to be...the only reason I would favor the 2070 super is because the price is more comfortable for me, but it's a different class of card.
