Why am I getting low download speed even though my browsing is fine.

Hello everyone,

Does anyone know the solution to this problem!?

I've checked my speed at speedtest.net and these are the results:

Ping: 7ms
Download speed: around 17mbs
Upload speed: around 4mbs

I have redone the test again and again but I get the same results, the thing is that it was working fine until a week ago or so.

I have also noticed that the ping in online games has increased from around 40 to +100. Yes, I do understand that sometimes the problem is that the server on the game is far away and that can cause lag but there's no way that could happen every time for one week or more.

I must also say that browsing works fine like it always did, watching videos on YouTube for example is fine, they load as they always did, websites load as always, too, the problem seems to be appearing only when downloading and playing online games.

I tried upgrading the firmware of the router but nothing changed.

Anyone knows the answer to the mystery?

Yes, they're connected via wireless.

there is your answer. to get an accurate speed test result you need to connect your computer directly to the modem. no router, no other users on the WIFi.
