Hi,

I have just built a new gaming rig and I am getting terrible performance for some reason? Can anyone see where I've gone wrong here?

- Intel Core i7 6700K Processor (4 GHz, 4 Core, 8 Threads, 8 MB cache, LGA1151 Socket Box)
- Asus Z170I Pro Gaming Motherboard (Socket 1151, Intel Z170, DDR4, S-ATA 600, Mini ITX, SupremeFX, Sonic Radar ll)
- HyperX Fury Black Series 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) 2133 MHz DDR4 CL14 UDIMM Memory Kit (Skylake Compatible)
- GTX 780
- Windows 10
- Latest GPU drivers installed.

On 3d games I am getting around 10 fps, even on windows desktop i have laggy mouse movement. CPU and GPU temps max around 70c when gaming - no idea why I am getting issues please help if you can!

Thank you

Yes @BadActor monitor is plugged into GPU and I reinstalled drivers, set windows power settings to performance and set mobo options to extreme. I also downloaded 3dmark demo and got a score around 4000 mark. But I am struggling to find info on what my bottle neck is or how to improve :/

what default resolution are you playing at, you could be running dynamic super resolution in 4k or be playing on a 4k monitor in which case that frame rate is to be expected. Also check what anti- aliasing settings you're playing, if you cranked up the anti-aliasing to 16x that performance is also normal on a gtx 780. I run a gtx 970 which has similar performance and get unplayable frame rates with crazy anti aliasing settings. I would open up geforce experience and optimize the games you play.

Thanks for the replies,
Default resolution is normally set to 2048 x 1152,
Temps while gaming normally sit around 50 - 70c
I do normally have settings like anti aliasing all set to max or near max depending on The game.

When I get home from work I'll try a specific game and post some results.

so I ran GPU-Z while running the 3dmark demo and my GPU load was sitting at 95% with a spike to 98% at one point. Does this mean my GTX 980 is just not up to scratch anymore?

Its weird, I've downloaded MSI afterburner to monitor GPU performance and all looks fune , windows performance monitor says CPU is fine, nvidia experience sets optimal settings to high (generally speaking dependant on game) but the game runs like rubbish even when I drop to low settings games run terrible? Its pretty frustrating.

Still no improvent with performance, I have now tried to uninstall display drivers completely and do a clean install of nvidia drivers. No change. I have heard that this could be an issue with windows 10? Is this just an urban myth/outdated at this point?

So I was just running xcom 2 and getting about 4 fps, and I've gone into event viewer and I can see many many nvlddmkm errors, can anyone explain this error in a bit more depth than my graphics card stopped responding?

Not really slight bump in frames but the performance issues always return after a short period. This would make me think temp is an issue but GPU is sitting around 50c even lower than I initially thought.

Hi, yes I have done this a number of times now and in a few different ways;
- updated using GeforceExperience
- uninstalled displayed driver from device manager and performed clean install from Nvidia website
- used third party tool to remove previous drivers and then reinstalled from nvidia website.

None of these steps has had any noticeable effect.

Definitely an option, my next step was to basically take the PC apart double check all connections and put the GPU directly into the mobo PCI slot. As its an atx with a slim case it has an adapter to allow the card room in the case. If this all fails I'll do the os reinstall.

Test the GPU without the adapter (May have to breadboard the PC outside the case). Also try clearing CMOS.
