Question why are ddr2 ram still expensive?

hey yall, trying upgrade an old laptop i have (for fun) that uses ddr2 sodimm ram and I was trying to get a 2x4gb kit and when I saw the prices I was shocked, other than specifically 4gb sodimm sticks other ddr2 ram are fairly cheap for example, a new 2x2gb sodimm ddr2 kit is $15 a new 2x4gb sodimm ddr2 kit is $120 and its listed "best value".
really appreciate it if yall can send some links to cheaper ones

I wouldnt say they are "still" expensive.
The kits got cheap, then stocks ran low once production ended, so the scarcity drove prices back up.
I agree, hit up ebay or whatever second hand market you like and get a used kit on the cheap.

4 gb sticks were rare for ddr 2. they were not really home pc type parts. so much less stock still available. hence, they cost a ton.

you can go used or stick with 2 gb sticks which as you already see are dirt cheap.

it´s because ddr2 is very old - 2x1gb was pretty common in good gaming builds (or even less than that) , 2x2gb was a high end gaming setup .
2x4gb was considered a luxury and extremely expensive back in the day - so that´s why they keep their price because there is not a lot of them out there .
you can buy a ton of 1 or 2gb sticks , not so much 4gb sticks of ddr2 .
