Question Why are marks appearing on my laptop screen and how to fix this?

I have recently started getting purple marks appear on my laptop screen. They only appear when the laptop is on and on black backgrounds. They also seem to be getting worse. What is the cause? and can I repair this? Many thanks for any advice - Adam

Looks like the screen might be at the end of its life. What is the brand and model is the laptop? How old is it? You could try updating your display drivers, but that photo looks like the screen is going bad.

You should use an external screen to see if it happens, if the external screen work fine it's the laptop LCD being at fault.

Thanks for your reply. Its an Asus VivoBook 14/15 and over a year old so was hoping it could be fixable!

Ok i'll try that thanks. If it is the LCD screen at fault i'm guessing it is permanent damage?

If it's inside the glass, it's not fixable.

Keep using it for a while with high contrast to see if those marks change in appearance.
