Why are my transfer speeds so slow?

I have a Samsung 850 Pro 128Gb SSD and a WD Black series 1TB HDD 7200 rpm 64mb cache. When I transfer files the ssd to the hdd it goes up to around 150mb/s but then drops to around 2mb/s and then kinda hovers there. Why could this be? The hdd has a little less that 600Gb free and the SSD has 65gb free space.

Hi there sbuster0922,

Have you tried transferring one big file? If you haven't you can try that.
Another thing you can do is to just test your WD drive with WD's Data Lifeguard Diagnostic tool(both short and extended tests): http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=P3GEgf
