Noticed a problem that started several days age. My wifi download speeds are bouncing like crazy! Using Speedtest, one minute I get 50+ mb. Run the Sam test one minute later and it is 1.5 mb. Same thing yesterday. Any suggestions

I don't know exactly what router you have, but I suspect it only has one transmission channel. Both ipads can connect at the highest possible speed the router can provide, but when both are being streamed to the router can only handle one transmission at a time, causing the network to slow down drastically.
Also, your network might be as secure as can be, but that will not stop it from being interfered by other routers that transmit in the same frequency channel. There are different programs/apps that can scan your wifi and give a good diagnose on whether there is much interference or not. You might get better speeds when switching to another wifi channel.
My isp is Cox. I have a netgear router. It is about 3 years old but is able to handle the newer standards. My network is secure and only my wife And I are on it with iPads or streaming tv. I have not changed anything with the settings and regularly use speedcheck over the past couple of years. Always got in the 20-40 mb range. Checked it 2 minutes ago and it pushed 53 mb. Second test 12 mb
