[SOLVED] why are pc cases without top ventilation so hard to find now

To me this is like drilling holes in your head to ventilate your brain, assuming that your brain now somehow needs ventilation.

USAF makes a good point. If you don't have top ventilation there's only the single rear fan for exhaust and whatever static pressure your intake fans can generate to force air out of the ventilated expansion slots.

Having top exhaust fans is good for higher end systems which produce more heat.

You can still find cases without though.

Where else would you have the hot air go out?
And that's not even talking about "hot air rises".

The back has limited space for exhaust.
