Discussion Why are select games only recently running in slow-mo while still at 60fps or above?

A short history. Dead or Alive 5 Last Round, Dead or Alive Venus Vacation, and Dragon Quest Heroes 2 were all running perfectly fine until approximately Nov. or Dec. of 2020. I couldn't get in any gaming for a few months and when I returned, those games previously listed are animating slowly despite Windows Game Bar, (or whatever) telling me I'm averaging 60fps. What's even more bizarre is menus and pre-rendered cinematics are animating in full speed, it's only 3D rendered elements that are running slowly. I ignored this problem for a long while as these are games I don't really play anymore but now it's showing up in newer purchases, in this case, Samurai Shodown. I thought it might have been a bad graphics driver but I updated everything since. I even tried buying Samurai Shodown on Epic in case it was Steam's Fault. Plenty of other, beefier games such as AC Valhalla and Cyberpunk 2077 are running great. I've also posted this complaint on various other message boards and I seem to be the only one on the planet this is happening too. I have an Alienware Aurora R8 and Dell won't even acknowledge me unless I renew my warranty. I do believe this is a software issue anyway. FYI, I have done all the other basics such as clean reinstalls and verifying local files etc.

This: "running perfectly fine until approximately Nov. or Dec. of 2020 "

2 1/2 years ago..... Typo in date(s)?

The starting point:

First - update your post to include full system hardware specs and OS information.

Include home network information: ISP, make and model modem, make and model router, wired,/wireless etc.?

Second - where are you purchasing games?

Third - if you could not get any "get in any gaming for a few months" double check that the OS, apps, utilities, drivers, and all games are fully updated.

Take a look in Task Manager and Resource Monitor to discover what is running and consuming system resources.

Use both tools but only one tool at a time. Check before gaming and then while gaming. Determine what changes.
