Why are these gpu's so cheap?

Solution
Vram amount doesn't say anything. We need the model but most likely, yes.

I never recommended a workstation card for gaming but was just clarifying that they do in fact get similar performance in gaming. I never said a fx 5800 is equivalent to a 1050ti. You might as well compare a 280 vs the 1050ti. That thread has no anecdotes, it's just the common info you'd find researching plus nothing about gaming on a ws gpu. http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/workstation-graphics-card-gaming,3425-15.html Tom's also has some of the ws gpu reviews with games in them. They don't do it often as it's the same story. The differences are well known but that's not what is being discussed.
They are just old weak gpus. The tesla can't be used as a gpu but for comparison sake, it's equivalent is a gtx 280. That's weaker than a rx 550. The 7670 is just an oem 6670, that's a lot weaker. The fx 5800 is equivalent to a gtx 285. Same tier but still 9 years old. You don't want to buy gpus this old if you want to game.

I would not buy a 4gb 550 because of the performance is too weak to use it during gaming. It's for more monitors. Just go with the 2gb version. It looks like you are just wanting a 4gb gpu but more vram does not mean more performance. You can have a 4gb potato gpu vs a 4gb "ferrari."

TG is tom's guide.

? Would I want a Quadro or a Firepro or recommend either for gaming? No.

Can you offer some? http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-3048067/quadro-gtx-graphics-card-workstation.html is pretty much entirely anecdotal.

Not sure about that muddy water but you should steer clear of workstation cards like the quadro when looking for a new gaming card.

Bambiboom could explain the differences much better than I ever could.
