Why are these Ram kits different prices? Is there any difference?

The first one is direct link from best memory article on this site, other 2 are cheaper and look to be the same, except different color schemes, and 1 kit looks like it has 2 x 8gb instead of 4 x 4 gb.

So are they all going to function the same? And also is it better to have less sticks of ram with equivalent total? Or more sticks?

Fewer DIMMs or more DIMMs depends on your motherboard. A CPU that has quad channel memory controller will benefit from 4 DIMMS. A dual channel controller won't benefit and you have no expansion capability. No expansion might be OK if you are at 16GB or higher.

Filling more slots than the number of channels very slightly diminishes performance. A 2x8GB kit would generally perform a little better than a 4x4GB kit that is otherwise identical in a dual channel system. A 2x8GB kit also requires less testing by the manufacturer before they get shipped.

As for why the first kit is more expensive than the second kit, it isn't because it's worth paying more. Some places just have higher prices listed than others at any given time. Next week, the Amazon kit might go on sale and be cheaper. Never know.

So I might as well get the 3rd one? Or the 2nd one if they aren't gonna restock the 3rd one?

Going to be getting an i7 6700k with a high-end Z170 motherboard. So that means the 2x8gb one right?

How long would you expect the wait for the Trident Z sticks be? Also what will be the difference?

Oh boy, I saw on there they're gonna have Trident Z releasing as well as Ripjaws V! How do I decide?!? 🙁

Actually the one I wanted to buy (this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231873) just came in stock, so is it really that worth waiting for Trident Z or Ripjaws V? It's just for gaming. Honestly if the Trident Z and or Ripjaws V were out now, I would just get one of those as long as the price difference wasn't too big.
