Discussion Why ASRock made their boards with default lime 3.5mm jack as a front speaker out?

Recently I bought an B550 Steel Legend from ASRock. Everything is fine, except I realized ASRock didn't make the lime 3.5 port as normal. Default of that jack is Front Speaker Out, not Speakers/Headphones/Line Out (so the Realtek Audio Console can detect it as a headphone/speaker) like every other motherboard manufacturer, and yes, you can't change this port to any kind of line out. I'm kind of disappointed about this, because I don't want to use my headphone as a speaker when I plug it into the rear 3.5mm jack.

What app are you using to control audio? I've installed a Realtek audio control console for my Gigabyte B550 board that let's me define what ports are used for. It's a pain to find, though, since Microsoft makes you go to their Apps Store with brain-dead search to get it now. It's possible it (or the link at least) might come with audio drivers downloaded from Asrock for you though. After installing the Asrock audio drivers hit Windows Update a few times and then look for it in Windows Update as an optional or driver update.

I use Realtek Audio Console too, but there is no option for the lime 3.5mm port, it just shows up as Front Speaker Out. Only the Line In port has the option.

If the Line In port offers it then can you use that one? Color of the jack isn't important, only the function.

Also, if there's a setting for it make sure it's set to STEREO, not 5.1 or 7.1 speakers.

Unfortunately, no. Because the Line In offers Line In and Side Speaker Out, no headphone option.
