Question why blu-ray player limits blurays to sd resolution?

I tested this bluray player with lakeview terrace, which i just watched with ps4 with no trouble
it would only play in sd resolution, the rez of a dvd...
any ideas y?

what connection are you using to connect the ps4 to the tv?

You should probably start with description of "this Blu-ray player". Is it stand-alone device (make / model), or computer application (name / version)?
