why buy an m.2 in a desktop

why would you buy a m.2 drive if an ssd gives the same boot times for os and games for the same price.
will you only see the diffrence in moving files or does it have other uses?

There is no big difference in every day use and gaming. You are right in that matter. The advance of M.2 drives is that they are not limited by the SATAIII bandwidth and are faster in video editing, moving random small files and also larger chunks of data. Another advantage is that they do not cost significantly more and are easier to install since you do not have to route cables to them in your case.
