[SOLVED] why c drive act as hard drive

my computer has 667 available gigs on d drive and 500 mb for c drive
how do i make my computer realize this is not the drive that I want for memory. Like I cant back up my phone I know how to save files to D drive and external drives

perhaps play around with disk utility. E.G shorten the amount of d drive and use that shortened amount to extend the amount of c drive?
