Hi,
I have CPU Amd x4 FX4130, mobo Asrock 960GC GS-FX, good cooler, Ram 2x4Gb Ddr3 1866Mhz.
So i just go in the BIOS, load default settings, than again into the BIOS, disable Cool and Quiet. Than set CPU Multiplier to x21, set CPU voltage from 1.425 to 1.45 V and off course save BIOS changes. The result is that its still 3.8GHz, not 4.2GHz.
I tried to put litle the clock, from 200 to 211, with multilier x20, but still the same problem-my cpu is still 3.8GHz.
Excuse my not good english, but i am from east Europe.
What to do, to get stable overclock 4.2GHz?

The CPU u have is called FX 4130, not Phenom (that is an entirely different chip), nor i did see anywhere on the motherboards website that it can accept the FX series which is AM3 socket, that will be the problem. Although u might be able to use it on everyday stuffs, don't expect anything more. Have u checked for BIOS updates ?

http://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/960GC-GS%20FX/?cat=Specifications

- Support up to 95W Socket AM3+ processors
- Support for Socket AM3 processors: AMD Phenom™ II X6 / X4 / X3 / X2 (except 920 / 940) / Athlon II X4 / X3 / X2 / Sempron processors

Dear friend,
Thanks that you have checked mobo specs.
That motherboard works with many CPU-no problem with this, accept FX series, but i need overclock.
May be the problem is in the BIOS? It have features in BIOS like AMD Turbo. May be some of this features make the problem with the overclock?
I guarantee you that with my previous mobo Asrock N68C-GSFX, again with 125W CPU Phenom x4 955 3.2GHz just put the multiplier to 18 and voltage to 1.45 V and work on 3.6, from 3,2GHz stable.
Or if i change litle the CPU clock and multiplier i look after that in Windows is 4GHz core speed, but it shut be 4.2GHz and wont restart the computer. It`s just very unstable clock!

Good answer.
I will accept this as solution.
Just wonder why then my previous mobo Asrock N68C-GS FX (almoust the same like Asrock GC-GS FX) and again up to 95W CPU just makes easy overclock with 125W Phenom x4 955?
It is only in the FX 4130 processor the problem, how it looks, so i just will stop attempts.
Thanks to Kenrou.
