Why can't I convert MBR drive to GPT

Unfortunately, I did not know of the 2TB limit of hdd's...

I bought a 4TB drive. Now I'm finding out I must convert from MBR to GPT in order to get it working. How come it is not working when I try to convert it?

I'm using Windows 8 64-bit

I have a UEFI mobo
