Why can't I get my computer to sleep?

When I try to put my computer to sleep, the monitor goes off, but the system itself still sounds like it's running, not powering down. I saw a post about Windows 10 same type of issue, but I'm on Windows 7 and it doesn't seem like that post applies.. Any ideas to fix this? I'm on Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit

Just kidding. Open a command prompt as administrator, type in powercfg /sleepstudy and post the output.

I have it set on high performance. Would any of those settings actually effect clicking the Start --> Sleep procedure?

Yeah, switch it over to balanced and your computer will have an easier time sleeping at night.

That doesn't make sense. If I click Sleep, it should sleep no matter what the power settings are on, right?

Try it first. Lets see what happens.

I changed it to balanced, and changed the default settings back on that plan. It does the same thing. I forgot to mention, on now this plan, and the other plan. The monitors go off, and the power light on the computer starts flashing like it would if it were asleep, but the power supply fan and other fans are still running. So maybe it's like half sleeping or something. Can't figure it out

It sounds like you have to alter power states in the bios for that motherboard. Did you configure any overclocking?

Yeah there is some overclocking. I didn't think to check anything in the BIOS. What should I be looking for in there to fix the power states issue?
