I have just purchased a Toshiba Satellite 15.6" P50-C00W Core i7 Notebook
Model No. PSPTSA-00W006. I purchased it yesterday and before I did the upgrade to windows 10 it was allowing me to project to my television. Now that I have upgraded it comes up with an error that says I should try a different video card. The laptop is two days old.
If it didn't work in the first place I probably wouldn't be as confused, but seeing as it did work before I upgraded to windows 10 and the fact that this is a brand new laptop.
Was there something in the windows 10 upgrade that stops projecting screens?

I agree with Slashgeek, it's probably and incompatible driver. This has been a problem since the release hit and before that while it was still in the developer phase. Nvidia unfortunately didn't take care of business like they should've with their Windows 10 drivers and other manufacturers haven't even got updated drivers out for their products either. I am still waiting on Netgear to pull their heads out of their asses in regards to the USB wifi adapters. They do not work properly for any OS past Windows 7 Ult. However, my Asus wifi adapter is working, but I can't use the UI for it since that isn't compatible with Windows 10 just yet either. So, long story short, once companies start putting out their newest Windows 10 compatible drivers you won't have any issues. No telling how long that will be though.
