Why can't I read the temperature of my AMD CPU (Athlon X4 845, Excavator)?

No software that I have downloaded has been able to read my CPU temperature. All of them only display the motherboard CPU socket temp, which I am told can be inaccurate under load. I've tried HWinfo, HWMonitor, Open Hardware Monitor, and a few others, and they never have a "temperature" entry in the CPU section. Even AMD Overdrive won't run, claiming that it doesn't detect the AMD chipset. Does anybody know why this is happening, and what I can do to be able to read my CPU temp? I've tried looking at similar threads to this one, but none of them have solutions that are useful in my case.

What motherboard? It may well be that your board simply does not support temperature monitoring - which is probably fine for a CPU that can't be overclocked. Many people on here obsess needlessly about chip temperatures, which are largely just a number unless you're experiencing throttling or instability.

I'm using the ASRock FM2A68M-DG3+. Here is my full part list if you need it. If this does turn out to be the case, it would seem odd that I can get temperature readings for all my other components, just not the CPU...

Edit - After some poking around in the BIOS it looks like you were right, I just didn't understand (my apologies). In the hardware monitor section, it doesn't even give out core temps, just simply "CPU temp", which is the exact same temp I see in all the monitoring softwares I use. So yeah, I guess my board just can't read core temps... thanks for helping me find that out though!
