why cant i type more then one letter at a time like yyyy with out a 5 second wait between the letters

i try to type a letter and when i need to type eeee or yyyy there is a 5 second wait between each letter

Go to Control Panel -> Keyboard and change your key repeat delay time.

Make sure you hit OK or Apply instead of just exiting out of the window

Sounds like filter keys to me. Go to control panel, ease of access, ease of access center, make the keyboard easier to use, and uncheck "Turn on Filter Keys"
