Having trouble using my webcam on my new Windows 10 installation.

Keeps saying either it doesnt have permission ( although settings says it does ) or that the camera is being used by another application ( which i cannot find ).

I have tried troubleshooting and google and nothing has worked.

I have tried two different webcams.

Any simple, step-by-step advice, anyone?

What app are you trying to use to run the camera? Usually, another app is already using it. Check your task manager which apps are running that could be using the webcam. I remember mine had skype running on startup.

Thanks, yes tried that. I could not see any app.

I even uninstalled skype.

I get no picture when using skype.

On windows 7, no problem, just not on windows 10
I just went to the youtube site to stream direct.

if they are from years ago that is likely your problem.if you cant find a driver its not likely to work with windows 10.had a really nice one i used on win7,but not go on win10.

DOH!

I forgot to mention i was running them ( the cameras ) from a USB hub.

I plugged them direct to a USB port on the pc and NO PROBLEMS!

Could it be that the PC thought the usb hub was "using" the cameras?

Anyhow, all working now.

a huge thank you to all who tried to help.

My apologies for being dumb and thank you for not hassling me .
