It isn't. The P5 plus would be, if you have gen 4 PCI-E, but a regular P5 is not.

The P5 is still a decent drive. Personally, for a gen 3 drive though, SK Hynix P31 would be my pick, as it is the most power efficient drive, while still being roughly on par with a 970 evo.
