My internet, is decent. I get about 25 mb/s for my download, and around 40 ping. However, randomly during the day, it will just go to 200 ping. My download speed does not usually change when I do a speedtest during a lag spike, just ping. This especially happens during the nighttime. I can not figure out what causes it, but it definitely causes some lost games. Please help!

Edit: I just updated my Windows 10 to the creator's update, and I haven't had bad ping since. Is it possible this fixed it? I am also getting sent a new modem from Spectrum tomorrow, and I am getting better internet. Does this mean when it goes bad, will it not be as bad?

I would suggest you contact your Internet Provider if you haven't already.. There could be a few causes for the lagspike..

It could be that you are not near a main hub for your internet.. meaning you're further down on the internet chain for your neighborhood.. and when more people get on (usually at night.. for me too) your Ping will increase.. esp if theres a bad connection/multiple people in your neighborhood having big downloads/streaming ect...

Do you notice it only happens when its sprinking/raining?.. It could be a bare wire..

Do you know if other people in your home are using the internet at the same time?

What type of internet do you have? (Cable.. DSL.. Satellite.. LTE)

Are you directly connected, or using Wi-Fi?

I am using ethernet, and my results were:

Yes, the ethernet cable plugs into the router, which is plugged into the modem.

What happens when you plug your computer directly into your modem?
