Why do i have high ping when playing games?

Hello all, i do have a bit of a problem. My internet is decent with an average of 20 kbps, However, lately my internet is incredibly laggy when i play games. Any game on any device is laggy. I usually play multiplayer on minecraft(i live in AUS) on a server that is located in the US. I play wireless and didn't have any lag at all. However, in the last week my internet is incredibly laggy. My ping was usually 100-200ms but since last week my usual ping is 1000ms. I now use a wired connection and it is still very laggy. My usual ping now is 1000-5000ms, and occasionally spiking up to 8000ms. I'm not sure what has happened but all of a sudden i have started lagging really badly. I have tried all the internet testers and in cmd pinging websites, all of which show that my internet is very good. Even in COD, WOT and H and G, my ping usually doesn't go below 1000ms.

20 kbps is literally the speed of a jellyfish. I think you are getting something wrong here.

20 kbps connection is laughable.

try speedtest.net and if its terrible restart your modem. If the issue persists then get a Ethernet cable

Thankyou for the response. I do use an ethernet cable and despite this, i still recieve high ping. I am resetting the router about 15 times per day and at first everything is back to normal, but after 1 min the ping skyrockets.
