Any archeologists here?

Upgrading tired old relic of a 980 to a lovely new 3080.

The Nvidia site posted this requirement that each 8 pin power cable needs to come separately from the PSU

Why do the cables need to be separate?

I have the pin requirement but will my 10 year old power supply still be compatible despite the power coming from what appears to be a single cable?

Cheers!

What is your full system specs including that 10 years old PSU?

You could plug that card with only 1 cable with 2 6+2 pin but a good PSU normally comes with 2 PCie cable like that.

Don't use that 10 years old PSU with your shiny new soon to be 3080 :)

At least a good 650 Watts PSU and if the 750 Watts is only a few more dollars you should go for a 750 Watts.
